@turducken the bug seems to be related to hardware/chipset; maybe you're on the lucky side of the equation. I try to buy from manufacturers who support open source and stay on top of LTS releases in order to reduce hardware compatibility risks. It just didn't work out this time.

Hmm, I have already built 3 multimon vmware workstations using 12.04 x64 and have not had any issues (except for the patch for vmware). I am, though, less than impressed with unity and am going to be going back to gnome at some point.

Cheers

Just an FYI. If anyone is upgrading from 8.0.2 to 8.0.3 and they get this error "/usr/lib/vmware/modules/source/.patched found. You have already patched your sources. Exiting," just simply go to that directory and delete the .patched file and try again. This worked for me.

With all due respect for those lost and those survivors ,traumatized by the events that beset the 'low speed chase" ,I plead for anyone to come forward who is willing to state that "she" (the boat) had not been skirting the line of the breaking waves prior to the disaster. Any one who has ever sat on a surfboard just outside the break, KNOWS that every 7-12 waves there is sure to be a ringer!( then in surfing ; It's paddle like hell!) Experienced Racing sailors don't know that? .... How much time would have been lost , if "her" course line" had been 100-200yds "Outside" ....Those waves are oscilations of energy building over thousands of miles. Certainly as an owner It must become imperative to afford both your crew (who typically have no say re. the course, and for that matter the power of the Sea (Particularly as it aproaches a highly dangerous Lee shore., the RESPECT it is due! ....The comparison made : that individual extreme sportsmen/women, choose their possible destiny ,really doesn't apply to an agreeable but voiceless sailing crew in an Ocean race. That responsibility rests solely with the person calling the shots, (presumably the owner in this case (a survivor)).....
Down hill racing on snow know requires complete crash barriers, high end race cars have head restraints, baseball batters wear helmets.... Minimum clearances to lee shores could be established! Let's hope for some rationality soon.

«That's French for Oracle has been importing a suspiciously large amount of wine to Africa.»

Hahaha, no.
What you translated as 'wine' (i.e., 'pots-de-vin') refers to 'bribery'.

In other words, this would be more correct, if not proper english:
«That's French for: Oracle has been suspected of bribery in some African countries, to get some deals»

Davi, a related issue: how to recover your phone or laptop when it's stolen. This service http://www.preyproject.com (free) is great. Locks the device, takes webcam pics, enables wifi or GPS tracking, allows you to record phone location and gives other reports so you can pass to the police. Not affiliated, just a happy a user.

Nice post this.
However, The Blue Flame was much more than just a rocket on wheels. The car and rocket system were designed and scratch-built specifically for the job of setting a supersonic world land speed record.

People who lived in Southern California used to be able to take a trolley from the mountains to the ocean through Los Angles. The state of LA traffic/public transportation is quite sad; it’s slowly getting better, but is still annoying when compared to other cities such as San Francisco or London. I like to blame GM; it’s convenient and timely.

One interesting by-product of the Los Angeles trolley system is the miles of public staircases throughout the hills in Silverlake and Echo Park. Former trolley stops were at the bottom of the staircases. LA Times article: http://articles.latimes.com/2008/apr/14/health/he-nustairs14

Off topic (but it is History): pictures of how the Army Corp of Engineers hid the Lockheed Burbank airplane plant during WWII: http://thinkorthwim.com/2007/08/19/1034/ Quite ingenious.
