CA Tesla Kills One in Rear-end Crash Into Tractor

Police say they are investigating.

The driver of a Tesla sedan died in a fiery collision with a tractor in Elk Grove early Wednesday morning, authorities said.

The crash happened at about 5:38 a.m. on eastbound Kammerer Road in southern Elk Grove. The California Highway Patrol said the grey four-door sedan hit the back of the tractor, which was hauling grapes on Kammerer Road just east of Lent Road in southern Elk Grove.

This is almost identical to the first Tesla driverless fatal crash in 2016, so basically nothing has improved.

CA Tesla Kills One in Crash Into Multiple Pedestrians

Police say they are investigating.

Multiple pedestrians were struck by a car, one fatally, in a parking lot Thursday afternoon in the Fairfax District, authorities said.

The collision occurred shortly before 1:30 p.m. at the Gilmore Station shopping center, near the intersection of Third Street and Fairfax Avenue. It appears the driver of a Tesla plowed into the security stand located in front of the parking lot shared by a Trader Joe’s grocery store, Mendocino Farms and Sidecar Doughnuts.

NY Tesla Driverless Blows Stop-sign and Crashes Into House

The police say they are investigating.

According to Gonzalez, the vehicle was traveling south when it passed through a stop sign at a T-shaped intersection and crashed directly into the house. The impact threw Gonzalez from the couch.

The homeowner said motorists who stopped after witnessing the crash told him the driver was asleep and that the Tesla was operating in Autopilot mode.

“There’s two people running towards me saying, ‘He’s asleep. He’s asleep.’ And then when I look to the side, I see the Tesla right in the house,” Gonzalez said. “Yeah. And the guy was still out, which is funny.”

This is not to be confused with the other Tesla in NY that also just crashed into a house.

A Tesla crashed into a home in Mastic on Saturday night, Suffolk police said.

A 25-year-old Islip man was driving a 2024 Tesla sedan northbound on Grand Avenue, when he lost control of the vehicle, and it left the roadway, before crashing into the home at around 9:15 p.m., according to police.

And neither of those are said to have anything to do with the Tesla in New Jersey that also just crashed into a house.

A 68-year-old Plainsboro man suffered minor injuries Friday after the Tesla he was driving crashed through a garage and into the kitchen of a home on Pheasant Run, township police said.

OH Tesla Kills One Motorcyclist in Redacted Head-on Crash

Electrek is investigating local news reports that fail to say Tesla, let alone ADAS.

Every local outlet described the other vehicle only as “a sedan.” No report identified it as a Tesla, and none mentioned Autopilot, “Full Self-Driving,” or any driver-assist system. […] Electrek matched that crash to a report in Tesla’s filings to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, made under a Standing General Order that requires automakers to report crashes where a Level 2 driver-assist system was engaged within 30 seconds of impact.

Here’s a typical local news version.

According to the Moraine Police Department, a crash involving a motorcycle and another vehicle was reported July 23 around 8:15 p.m. at the intersection of Hemple Road and Germantown Pike.

Moraine police confirmed one person died after a head-on collision with a sedan.

Electrek indicates that Tesla is hiding the data intentionally to defeat investigations.

Of all 3,953 Tesla reports, only 2 don’t carry the “[REDACTED — confidential business information]” narrative. One has nothing. Likely a mistake. And the other one is about a crash in Onamia, MN (13781-7197) back in 2023. It’s the lone record where Tesla actually wrote out a narrative, but it used the narrative section to say this crash was added by mistake and that Autopilot/FSD were not involved.

This tells you everything you need to know about why Tesla redacts these narratives. IF it looks good for Tesla, it’s there; if it doesn’t, it’s redacted.

There already are three more like this one, as the Electrek numbers continue to show what we’ve reported here since 2016, that Tesla will only get worse and kill more people due to design defects.
