Perhaps a fair reparation compromise would be for all white Americans to serve as slaves of Black Americans for a period of 82 years (to match the time period of slavery in the United States). The white population could be evenly and randomly distributed to the Black population, at about five white slaves per Black American. Or maybe it could be managed in a more nuanced manner: Only whites in the former slave states would be pressed into slavery.
This would at least be a good position from which to start negotiations. When faced with the possibility of suffering the hellish existence suffered by American slaves, perhaps more white Americans would recognize the gravity of the injustice imposed upon the ancestors of our fellow citizens. It is an injustice that continues to warp and skew the fabric of our nation today.
