Here’s yet another case, similar to a “veered” defect reported since 2018, where a Tesla abruptly leaves the road and hits a pole or tree.
At about 8:25 p.m. Saturday, Sebastopol authorities received multiple reports of a car crashing in a field along High School Road north of Gaye Road, deRutte said.
“Callers also stated that the vehicle caught fire immediately after crashing, with a driver possibly still inside,” according to a posting on the Sebastopol Police Department’s official Facebook page.
The Tesla had gone off the road before striking a tree and coming to a stop in the surrounding field, deRutte said.
Notable are the hazmat scene from a chemical cluster munition exploding, a huge emergency response seriously taxing at least four communities, and exposed civilians nearby who helpied the kamikaze pilot to escape and survive.
By the time emergency personnel arrived, members of the public had helped the driver, the car’s sole occupant, get out of the vehicle, police said.
The Sebastopol Fire Department, Gold Ridge Fire District, Rancho Adobe Fire District and Graton Fire Department assisted with putting out the blaze, which was fueled by a series of explosions that were attributed to the Tesla…
“The white car was speeding, so when we see one car, we know it’s an undercover car, we just know,” said Simpson. “No sirens, no lights, come on man.” On Tuesday, the Broward Sheriff’s Office confirmed Internal Affairs investigators are trying to determine if any BSO units were pursuing the Tesla before the crash. BSO added a gun was recovered from the Tesla.
Few details have been released yet to explain why a Tesla destroyed itself by crashing like an assassination missile into the side of a large SUV.

Broward Sheriff’s Office deputies Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue units responded to the scene of the three-vehicle rollover wreck near Northwest 27th Avenue and Sixth Street in unincorporated Broward County, at around 4 p.m., Sunday.
The impact sent a light colored Tesla and a black Dodge Durango involved into a nearby cemetery.
The front side of the Tesla was destroyed, and the windshield was blown out. The Durango sustained considerable side damage.
Given the extensive damage to the Tesla it likely ran a red light at high speed.
The Cybertruck was advertised as a go anywhere, survive anything vehicle. Instead it has turned out to be a windbag that pops on the slightest challenge.
“Bring a trailer” is the constant comment about the Tesla truck design, which fails or falls apart daily. This one shows the typical cracked windows and wheels falling off.
I didn’t see a car at first until I had just passed the ambulance and saw a Cybertruck in among the trees. All I can figure is that either the brakes or the steering went out as he was taking the curve and he went off the road. That particular curve isn’t all that sharp, so I don’t think that speed was a major issue. Dude was lucky it didn’t fail on one of the other curves and go off the side of the mountain.
The CHP report on August 7th at 1:48PM suggests the truck “WAS HIGH SPEEDS PRIOR” when it lost control and bent — “NOT KNOCKED OVER” — the 30 mph sign on its way into the trees.
CHP responded to State Route 296, just north of Ford Avenue, outside Coalinga, just before 1:30 a.m. on Saturday.
Officers say a man was driving a truck in the southbound lane when the driver of a Tesla heading northbound went into the southbound lane. A passenger inside the Tesla died at the scene. Both drivers were taken to Community Regional Medical Center with significant injuries.
It’s unknown why the man driving the Tesla was in the wrong lane. Authorities don’t believe alcohol or drugs are factors in the crash.
CHP responding to a head-on collision around 0130 on a straight rural highway? Autopilot is suspected. Another report puts the crash time closer to 0030.
For reasons yet to be determined, officers say the Tesla veered into the southbound lane, directly in the path of the GMC. The driver of the Tesla reportedly attempted to avoid crashing, however, the GMC ultimately collided with the passenger side of the Tesla.
The driver tried to avoid crashing? A truck doing nothing wrong “ultimately collided” with a Tesla driving at high speed into its path? That’s a weird way to frame fault for a robot driving head-on into traffic. Apparently the Tesla owner has claimed he fought with his robot for control, similar to design failures that caused the Boeing 737MAX tragedies.
